What is BotHunter?

BotHunter is software that can monitor your network traffic to easily find infected computers. Unlike other systems, it compares IDS alerts from multiple sessions belonging to a single home machine and combines them to identify typical infection or misuse behavior. By requiring two or more sessions to exhibit abnormal behavior, Intra-session correlation virtually eliminates false positives and brings true positives to the forefront.When a host’s dialog patterns match known malware life cycle patterns, BotHunter generates an infection profile detailing the dialog events that lead to the identification of a bot, Trojan exfiltrator, worm, spyware, adware, etc.
